Mid-Year Work Review
Just had my Mid-Year Work Review yesterday - 1st time under my new HOD. Was ok... Came out feeling less depressed than the ones I did with my previous HOD. He made me reflect a lot on my work for the year, and made me think what I can do better next year. Basically, he wants me to (again) raise the profile of Music in school. He gave me ideas - interdisciplinary class performance during assembly, showcasing of student's works just before proper assembly programmes, etc. Basically the programmes should be seen and heard.
I read Kel's blog post recently, and I quite agree with what he said - that we are doing things just to be seen... "for show" as we would put it. But is this right? It seems we are doing things just for the sake of doing it, to boost our profile, to make ourselves more prominent so we can get promoted faster... Well, at least these are the vibes I'm getting from the SMC, but does it really have to be like this????
Maybe I'll (still) feeling jaded... Maybe no one has explained the clear rationale on why we're doing things... Would anyone care to enlighten me, before I get more disillusioned about the education service...???
