Yes! My bass has sound... at last!
Turns out to be a cable problem. The one that came with the bass was some cheapo one, which can spoil easily. No wonder they gave it free. So I bought a Planet Waves cable at $23. But it really does make my bass sound good.
I tried it out last night, and I am very happy with it. Now it's time to scout for some bass practice drill books...
