Healthier Food Trail

Just came back from the Healthy Food Trail organised by the Health Promotion Board for all staff. Came back smelling all of satay...

We left school at 0840h, and our 1st stop was to Tiong Bahru Market where we met our guide Nicholas. We were given a budget of $1/head to order healthy hawker food, which we obviously exceeded. Here are some of the things we ate...

Lor Mee

Soya Bean Curd and Drink

Carrot Cake
Chee Cheong Fun
... and after we ate it all up... *burp*

our guide Nicholas...

Next stop was to NTUC at Jalan Bukit Merah where we were taught how to choose products with the Healthy Food Label which had the pyramid symbol. Bought the Marigold Mixed Berry Yoghurt drink which tasted quite good.

Saw 2nd hand books being sold at NTUC for cheap prices. Picked up a Dilbert Comic Book which cost $12.90. Opened it up, only to find that the 1st few pages have been torn out from the spine... Ohwell... next time please remind me to check the book 1st before purchase...

Final stop for the trail was to Lagun Sari Indonesian Restaurant at Peck Seah Street. Couldn't really eat much, as the food there was mostly spicy, so spent most of the time trying to take photos.

enjoying the food...

There was a demonstration of cooking grilled prawns, which none of us were interested. The thing is, the demonstration was held INSIDE the dining area, with NO ventillation, so we all were aptly "singing" to the song Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. I decided to brave the smoke and take a shot of the demonstration...

Was educational in some way, but not sure how more health conscious it will make us out to be...
