Dim Sum!

Went for a dim sum buffet lunch with colleagues today - an activity we've not done in a LONG while! About 10 of us went to the Dragon Gate Restaurant at HarbourFront. It's reputated to be the best place for dim sum, so say the foodies. I've only been there once before, and it was a real long time ago, so I could not vouch for that...

Food was indeed good! Everything I've tasted was of standard. But the funny thing over today's lunch was the miscommunication in ordering. Here's an example: we only wanted 3 pcs of char siew pao, but the waitress who took our order thought we wanted 3 servings of it (and each serving has 3 pcs). The same went for all the other dishes we ordered! So we was very puzzled when we saw trays and trays of the food we ordered that kept coming to our table. After a very full stomach, this was what was left on the table:

And there were more to come! Luckily, the waitress agreed to cancel some of our orders (was against restaurant's policy, actually). So after 2 rounds of each of us having one piece of food each, we thought of a way to make all of us finish whatever's left on the table - by playing the Guess The Number game! So the loser had to have one piece of whatever was left. A very long process, but at least almost everything on the table was wiped out. We all agreed on two things: never before have we ever had such a torturous dim sum meal in our lives, and we definitely won't have dim sum again for the next 3 months!

After lunch, we all needed to "work out", so Danny, Stanley, Bryan and I walked around VivoCity for 3 hours. Went shopping for CNY stuff - Stanley and Bryan bought a tie each from Topshop and Marks & Spencer respectively; Danny bought a pair of socks from GAP; I bought 3 tops and a pair of pants from Esprit. And as if all the dim sum was not enough, we had dessert at White Dog Cafe! The cakes were actually quite decent; ambience was cosy too, so was a very conducive place to just sit down, talk and just catch up.

Am feeling fat, and don't think I'll have the time to exercise before CNY comes. So guess I've to stay away from all the goodies this year to make sure I don't gain anymore weight... :(
