CNY 2007
To start off this post,
WISHING EVERYONE A
HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS YEAR OF THE GOLDEN PIG!!!
Didn't know it's a special Pig Year this year - the Year of the Golden Pig. Just found out that the Golden Pig Year happens once in 60 years, which means daddy is a Golden Pig! :) Which makes me wonder what kind of pigs are those born in 1959, 1971, 1983 and 1995 considered? Well, of course those born from now to the next Lunar New Year will be the new generation of Golden Pigs...
Anyway, CNY this year was somewhat different, due to the many circumstantial differences - Popo not around anymore, so the maternal extended family gatherings are now held at Dai Ee's place instead of Ah Q's. I now see bro giving out ang paos to the younger cousins (and me!) for the 1st time! :) Gatherings at Ko Chik's house is also somewhat different - now that all the cousins have just entered the working world, think we're all too tired from the stresses of work to sit down, talk till the wee hours of the morning and just chill out like we used to. It's sad to see my cousin Charles (who's working in a law firm) having to do work amidst entertaining relatives, but he was nice enough to entertain me for a while. Yeah.. so things are somewhat different... but I'm always thankful for this opportunity to gather every year, even though the aunties always ask me THAT same ol' question... :(
Managed to find some spare time before heading to Ko Chik's for dinner, so brought the folks to the new 24-hour McDonald's at Ang Mo Kio Garden. It's quite nice - the style is similar to the one at Ridout Garden, but didn't like the fact that the HDB flats appears across the road so clearly in full view. Just spoils the "nature" feel of the place. Parking is free, but rather limited, so it was a good thing we managed to get a lot. Still think West Coast Macs is better.
Am also thankful for the full day of rest I can get tomorrow before another full day of visitation on Tuesday, and then back to work on Wednesday. :(
Once again, 新年快乐,心想事成,万事如意!
:)
