Songs for my funeral
I'm writing this while still mourning the loss of a very close friend of mine. He chose the songs for his own wake services - songs that were indicative of his great faith in God, and surrendering it all to Him in whatever circumstances he was facing, to acknowledge that he was God's own. I thought I should do the same for my own wake service, whenever the Lord wants to call me home. It may be soon, it may be tens of years later. The song choices I have picked may change over time, so I will be coming back periodically to update. But these are the songs I've got so far, in no particular order:
1. All The Way My Saviour Leads Me
2. In Christ Alone (my hope is found)
3. The Answer
4. Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
5. Be Still My Soul (to be sung on the day of my funeral)
The song choices are wide - from traditional hymns composed hundreds of years ago, till songs written recently, which I don't know if it'll still be common by the time I go home to the Lord.
As you can tell, I'm still thinking, and obviously not ready for my own wake service yet. Probably indication that my time on earth has not ended, and I still have much more room to exercise my faith and trust in Him.
