it's De-Lovely

Just finished watching De-Lovely on VCD, courtesy of Esther. It's a story on the life of songwriter Cole Porter (1891-1964), who wrote songs like "I Get A Kick Out Of You", "Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love", and, of course, the title song "It's De-Lovely". Felt that the plot was quite chopped up, but the music was de-lovely! Was refreshing to see cameo appearances of Robbie Williams, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow and Natalie Cole in the movie, singing the songs of Porter. After watching Ray and now this, musicians do live a sad, misunderstood life. Definitely a lifestyle not many people can understand and accept.

And to update on what I'm presently reading and listening to...

Current Music: Clay Aiken - The Christmas Album

Current Book: Anne Frank - Diary of a Young Girl

Clay Aiken is one artiste you would either love or hate. For me, I feel that he's the only AMI contestant that can keep me glued to the TV set and anticipate his appearance. Definitely more watchable and listenable than Ruben, Kelly and Fantasia. The Christmas Album is a Christmas pressie for my mum last Christmas, but who's the one listening to it now and appreciating the pressie more... *sigh*

Anne Frank: A popular book. It was even made into a movie, with the soundtrack written by my favourite movie music composer - Michael Nyman. Yes, shame on me to only read this book so late in my life, while most people would have read it in their teens. Very entertaining read. One of the very few non-fiction books which won't make me lose my patience. A very profound book too, with great maturity displayed for a girl her age.

Okie... that's what's been keeping me at home this past week. This will be a rather regular feature, so watch this space! :)
