Project.D

Just finished watching the fourth stage of Initial D the jap anime. Borrowed it from Boon Ee, a student from my class. Really cool anime! Am a bit lost, cuz I didn't watch the 1st 3 stages, so didn't know why certain parts of the plot were why it was shown to be. But it really makes me wanna go to a car rental shop, rent a manual car and practise! haven't driven a manual car since i got my license. I hearby declare my ultimate dream car - the Subaru Impreza WRX STi! (cheh, you may say, but 1. it's way above my budget now; 2. i've always enjoyed driving subaru cars. 3. i like the blue colour! 4. i've sat in one before, and it was shiokums!)

The soundtrack is cool too! all songs performed by this jap group called Move. quite rock, reminded me of F.I.R cuz of the similar composition - 2 guys and 1 gal.

However, the english subtitles were HORRIBLE! it was just the direct translation of the chinese subtitles! some were very riduculous. e.g. hao3 xiang4 (it's like...) was translated as good elephant!!! goodness! I think I'd make a better translator than that! i'd rather read the chinese subtitles - it helped me much more than the english one! and i'm sure you all know how "good" my chinese reading is...

I've now access to the 1st 3 stages, complete with the stage 3 movie and the CG video, thanks to Allan. Now it gives me more excuse to rush home after school. Sorry Potter, you gotta wait... :p

Speaking of Initial D, I'm very afraid of the way i'm handling my car now. I'm now driving it as though i own the road. haven't been really religious with my blind spot checks, am speeding like no one's business. thank God that whenever I drive, there are no cars around most of the time. otherwise, the worst may happen. I thank God for giving me journey mercy every time i drive. but i really have to be much more careful on the road to save my life!

Sonicfest 2005 - my personal review

Was at Sonicfest 2005 on thursday and friday nites. Here are my reviews.

Thurs, 28/7
Thurs night featured 3 local bands (of which I only heard 2 - One Authority and Surreal) and Planetshakers (from Australia). It really felt like a rock concert, sadly minus the crowd during the 1st part of it. The local bands weren't really all that great - technically and spiritually. Can't hear what they were singing, and I just felt that it was just noise, noise and more noise! Maybe their songs are targetted to a different group of people - youths who are lost and are trying to seek refuge in something/someone.

Planetshakers came on stage at 9pm. It was a blast! Even though I didn't know their songs, I felt God speaking to me through their songs and I was really led into worship.

Fri, 29/7
Was there slightly later than on Thurs, having met PL for dinner prior to Sonicfest. And the crowd started to come in earlier, prob cuz it's friday and both Planetshakers and Sonicflood were performing... i mean leading worship. (does anyone know how to do a strikethrough...?!?!?!) More people from my church were there, like Xian, Elaine, Colin & Wendy, Crispy, Hian Liang, Dom. So one big group of us sat together. Was quite fun.

The local band featured and which I managed to catch (Vertical Rush) was much better than the local bands the night before.

Planetshakers came on at 8pm. Repeated some of their songs from the previous night... :( thought could hear more of their songs. Again, very worshipful, but was somehow more distracted cuz of the crowd and the fact that I wasn't feeling well... :(

The draw of the night came at 9pm - Sonicflood (USA). Could tell that most people came to see Sonicflood. They sang songs we normally sing in church e.g. Open The Eyes Of My Heart, I Want To Know You More, I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever. The band sounded good - just like on the CD! Had a chance to watch them at 7.30pm doing an acoustic version of I Could Sing Of Your Love, with just 2 guits and a snare drum. And it still sounds good! I was totally impressed!

30/7 (Sat)
Didn't go today, as I needed time to set test papers and I still am not feeling well, so passed the ticket on to Charles. Just as well, don't know any of the bands that were playing today anyway. So if I went, I'd be alone and it'll be a waste of time. But, part of me wanted to go have a look... Nah... rest is good. Must get feedback from Charles tomorrow!

That's it... hope more overseas Christian bands come for next year's Sonicfest...

Till then...

totally connected 24/7!

I'm FINALLY connected 24/7 using pac net wireless connection. but it was a LOOOOOONNNG ride before I could be connected.

Pac net technician came to my house today to install the wireless on the bro's PC and my laptop. when I went home, i tried. It was OK at 1st, but became a bit wonky. So i kay kiang and did something to it and it totally didn't work! So i called the 24-hr customer service hotline at... 12.30am!!!!

I'm VERY HAPPY with the service of the technical support staff Peng Huat (or so I think that's how his name is spelt!!!) Despite calling him so early in the morning, he sounded very pleasant over the phone and was very very patient in answering all my questions and troubleshooting all my problems, considering i'm not all that IT-savvy. And it's not just about it being his job. He made everything so easy for me, even when I've never seen the display on my monitor before!

Peng Huat's one person to be commended for his excellent service. Wish people in the service industry have a high level of service like he does.

Hello internet world! I'm back with a vengeance! :p

Ambiguous notice

Saw this at the Singapore Conference Hall some time back. Apparently one Catholic church (or sorts) is using this venue for their services. Hmm... So does this notice mean that there's NO Catholic prayer for that day, or "NO" stands for something else? And does it mean it's for To(day) or for T(w)o Day(s)...?

Anyway, now that I know how to post photos up on this blog, do expect more photos soon...! :)

Sonicfest 2005!

Sonic Fest 05!

Am very excited about it! Sonicflood and Planetshakers are coming! Hope it'll be good. It'll be my 1st time attending Sonicfest all these years. Am feeling a bit sick today, so pls pls pray hard for me that I will recover in time to worship God at Sonicfest all the 3 days!

I'm connected!!!!

I'm finally connected!!!! At home on my home laptop!!!

Anyway, am typing this blog from home. Decided to insert my wireless card and try to surf, and it worked!!! So happy!!!

But... dunno how long this is gonna last.

Wasn't intended - I switched on my laptop intending to read my Harry Potter ebook, but since I'm here, might as well type in a post here.

Speaking of Harry Potter, the 1st few chapters is a good read - definitely easier than The Order Of The Phoenix. I've not finished yet, so DON'T tell me what's happening!

Ok... gotta go... I've got a date with Potter...

rantings...

the past week has been a very bad one for me. Have been dragging myself outta bed (literally!) and forcing myself to get to work. Not that I don't like it, but I'm just finding myself get more and more tired, as though I've not enough rest. Maybe it's the late nights that's killing me...

Went for an InfoComm Technology focus group discussion at Suntec yesterday, and it was from there I found out how backward my school is. Other schools like Catholic High are talking about tablet PCs for their students. Yet another school was talking about increased security for staff around the school. For my school, it really seemed like we're a frog in the well. Can't expect much from the school too, as the kids come from families who can't afford internet access at home. just felt it was unproductive for my colleagues and me as the concerns raised were so different.

And I'm so angry with myself that I actually missed the WASBE exhibition after the discussion, when I was at the same place! Grr!!! Hope I didn't miss much...

It's Friday today, but I don't look forward to the weekend, maybe cuz I've nothing to do but go to school for CCA on Sat morning. And I'm getting VERY irritated cuz I keep getting disconnected from my wireless surf!

Ok... got disconnected again. Guess it's a sign telling me to go home...

the past weekend...

had a good weekend this weekend, but didn't do any work, so feeling guilty... :p

watched initial D on sat night. not bad, but very different from the anime, as in the characters are portrayed very differently in the movie. what i couldn't reconcile with was how an EVO IX could lose to a lao pok cia toyota AE86 (it's an antique model, but not vintage... geddit?!?!) but then again, the driver of the EVO lost (i.e. crashed) cuz he was a show-off. moral of the story: if you drive an evo (or WRX or any other similar model), be humble, and follow the rules!

went for the ACS(I) choir concert last night with good company, and also met ppl who i've not met in a while and who i really wanted to meet... :) the concert was visually entertaining, and i will leave it as that. the ACS (I) chinese performing arts group was the guest, and they had their boys gyrate around on stage... erm... almost naked... (yuck!) Pls! for heaven's sakes, if you want to expose any part of the body, go to the gym and tone up! it's disgusting to shake all the flab around!

had the car the whole day yesterday, from 9.30am to pm. quite fun driving around alone and with ppl to talk to in the car. felt good too to ram the car... think i'm influenced by initial D... (oh no!)

sigh... the weekend's over... back to work... :(
