Possible lesson idea...?

Was teaching piano yesterday - taught my student Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C Major. Touched a bit on interpretation of music, so brought in non-musical imagery. So the imagery I brought up for that piece is about the weather, and how the different chords chords can conjure up imaginations of different kinds of weather.

While teaching, an idea came to mind - a possible integration between Visual Art and Music... To get students to listen to the Prelude, draw up the different imageries, and align the different pictures to the different parts of the music, and possibly make a video file out of it.

Too bad my Art is not good... Maybe can get Saz to help...? *bulb*

MDS Dinner

Finally had the chance to meet Mich and Sha for dinner, after not seeing them since CNY this year. Had dinner at Sushi Tei at China Square. The food there was surprisingly good.. either that or I was hungry...

Wii!!!

Went to Pek Ya's place after church yesterday to play with her new Nintendo Wii console. She had 2 discs - one contains simulation games of golf, tennis, baseball, boxing and bowling. The other is Redsteel - a rather violent and gory RPG game.

Rayner playing what seems to be baseball, with KT holding the other controller and Val looking on.

As you can see, the controllers are very different from the PS2/3. It takes a while of getting used to where the buttons are... But I'm glad I managed to beat Rayner at bowling... :p

But as PY suggested, we should buy more controllers and games and go to someone's house with either a projector or a projection tv... Am definitely looking forward to playing some racing games on the Wii...

Whee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Valarie saw my Hello Kitty speakers and my Garfield Pretzel dispenser and had this sudden linkage with Royston Tan's film 881...

Hello Kitty speakers represent the 2 8s; Garfield dispenser represents the 1.

Teacher's Day Celebrations 2007

HAPPY TEACHER'S DAY!!!

Realised I've reached my 151st post! I didn't know my blog could sustain this far... :p

Had my teacher's day celebrations today. Felt like a celebrity as I walked down my class taking attendance and my students were giving me their report book and teacher's day gifts one by one! Really didn't want to create the "wrong impression" of being the most popular teacher in school, cuz I'm clearly not. But it sure felt good for a while.

Teacher's Day Celebration was spoilt for me - I could not even go up to enjoy the concert, as I had to rush through proposal for my Music IT Lab next year. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I saw many colleagues running back to the staff room cuz they "could not tolerate the noise in the hall".

Left school at 12nn, shopped a bit at Suntec, bought an external hard disk drive and a laptop case from COMEX, then went back to school to freshen up. Decided I should take a picture of *some* of the teacher's day presents I've received this year...

Teacher's Day Dinner at The Chevron's was an enjoyable experience - didn't expect to enjoy myself so much. I had a go at the school's Nikon DSLR, and it was quite fun. Now I'm quite gian to get my own... :p

And with this marks the start of the Sept hols... Well, despite the invigilation and CCA, hope I'll get enough rest...
